Dr. Vega believes in providing compassionate and comprehensive care to the underserved community. He is dedicated to empowering his patients through education and personalized treatment plans, ensuring the best possible outcomes. He is a visionary who always aims to develop programs and lead initiatives to achieve the highest quality patient care through mentoring and coaching physicians while directing strategic clinical operations, ensuring excellence in patient safety and patient experience, and managing physician engagement and alignment.
As a former Medical Director at a Federally Qualified Health Center, Dr. Vega gained extensive experience leading a team of multi-specialty providers in developing standardized protocols to help meet quality measures, expanding services, and participating in strategic planning at Christopher Rural Health Planning Corporation in Southern Illinois. His efforts led to identifying and opening new access points. He also served as Department Chair of OB/GYN at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Children in Orlando, FL. He has been a senior attending physician at the Women’s Center of Orlando for the last 15 years, providing hospitalist and outpatient services, overseeing quality performance and compliance with practice guidelines.
During his career, he’s earned awards such as the Primary Healthcare Clinician Devotion Award from the Illinois Primary Healthcare Association and the Exemplary Physician Colleague Award from Orlando Health. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Association for Physician Leadership.
Dr. Vega earned his medical degree from Universidad Central Del Caribe Medical School in Bayamon, P.R. Currently, he is board-certified in OB/GYN and completed his Executive MBA in Healthcare Management at Creighton University’s Heider College of Business
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Vega enjoys family time with his wife, Evelyn, and his two children, Alex and Wil, as well as exercising and traveling. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
